Thiane Wildlife Sanctuary forms part of the malaria free Waterberg Biosphere, where a rich diversity of indigenous trees, birds and animals can be found.

Completely secluded and private, Ematsheni Camp Site, which can accommodate up to fifteen people, is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. Built on a rocky outcrop utilizing the natural rocks in design, the recreation area consists of a small rock pool, kitchen with gas fridge and freezer and a braai area with separate ‘kykvuur’. Bring your own tent and camping equipment or stay in one of our fully equipped permanent Safari tents.

Phepheta Chalet, which overlooks a floodlit waterhole, is comfortably furnished and equipped to cater for seven people in one single and three double rooms with two bathrooms, lounge, open plan kitchen and dinning room and private outdoor braai area and lapa.

Guests can enjoy walking, game viewing, night drives, birding, tree spotting, mountain biking, 4x4 trail, fishing in the nearby Mokolo dam or simply relaxing and letting the unspoiled surroundings seep in to your soul

DIRECTIONS

Follow the N1 north from Pretoria until you reach the Kranskop Toll Plaza. Exit to Nylstroom. Get onto the R33, Go straight through Nylstroom to Vaalwater, Pass straight through Vaalwater, pass the Spar which leads onto the Bulge Rivier / Thabazimbi Road. R510 (Old Ellisras Road). Don’t take the R33 right turn to Ellisras. At Bulge Rivier approx 50km from Vaalwater (Police Station on left) turn right (purple shop on corner) onto the dirt road , you will also see the turn off to the Mokolo Dam Nature Reserve, Thiane's entrance is 20km on the left, immediately after the second grid gate. Pass through the gate and 2km down the road you will find reception.
